SCHOOL CLOSURES

The school will close on Wednesday December 20th December at 12:00pm for the Christmas Holidays and will re-open on Friday January 5th 2018.

 

SACRAMENTAL DATES

Primary 4 Class

First Penance - St. Mary’s Church Maguiresbridge on Wednesday 7th March 2018 at 7.30pm.

First Holy Communion - St. Mary’s Church, Maguiresbridge on Saturday 28th April 2018 at 11:00am.

Primary 7 Class

Confirmation - Holy Cross Church, Lisnaskea on Sunday 13th May 2018 at 3pm.

Confirmation RehearsalHoly Cross Church Lisnaskea on Thursday 10th May 2018 at 10.30am Transport will be arranged for the children for the Rehearsal.

Service of Light - Holy Cross Church Lisnaskea on Wednesday 2nd May 2018 7.30pm

Chrism Mass – St. Macartan’s Cathedral Monaghan on Holy Thursday 29th April 2018 at 11am. Transport will be arranged for the children for the Chrism Mass.

 

SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PRODUCTION

Our school Christmas Nativity will take place on Thursday 14th December at 7.30pm in St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Please take note of the venue. Tickets are £10 per family and £5 each for extended family e.g. Uncles/Aunts/Grandparents. Tickets will be on sale from 13th November from the school office and not on the night.

We thank you in advance for your support and look forward to a very enjoyable evening together.

 

PANTOMIME TRIP

P.3-7 children will be travelling to the Opera House in Belfast to see ‘Peter Pan’ in Pantomime on Monday 11th December. The cost of the trip is £15 per pupil. All money should be in school by now. If your child is not attending the Panto please do send them into school as Mrs. O’Hanlon will be present to supervise.

Details of the P1 & 2 trip to the cinema during that week will follow in the December Newsletter 

 

STAFFING ARRANGEMENTS

Mrs. Cassidy will be starting a 4 day week teaching arrangement for the rest of this academic year, beginning on Wednesday the 15th of November. Miss Caitriona Bannon will be teaching in P.5/6 class every Wednesday for the rest of this year.

 

POLICIES

Homework Policy - If you haven’t done so already and you would like to give feedback please return to school by the end of next week.

Healthy Eating Policy – we will be issuing our healthy eating policy this month and look forward to receiving your feedback. Never before has our children’s eating habits been such a concern and as adults responsible for our children the onus is on us to act

ABSENCES

If your child is absent, please contact the school on the first morning of absence.  It is also important that your child brings in a signed note to explain their absence on their return to school.

 

ANTI-BULLYING WEEK

Monday 13th to Friday 17th of November is Anti-Bullying Week. The pupils and staff will be taking part in lots of activities and discussion to mark this key week in the School’s calendar.

 

CHRISTMAS RAFFLE

We will be having a Christmas Raffle during December. Tickets will be available in school from 3rd December and cost 40p each or £1:50 per strip of 5. The charity which we will be supporting this year is Mary’s Meals a charity who aim to provide chronically hungry children with one meal every school day, encouraging education that can lift them out of poverty in later life.

 

CUMANN NA mBUNSCOIL

The annual Cumann na mBunscoil Quiz will take place in November, date to be confirmed next week. Boys and Girls 5 a side Indoor Football will take place on Wednesday 29th of November in the Castle Park Centre.

 

LISNASKEA FEIS

Well done to all the children who took part in the recent Lisnaskea Feis. The children did brilliantly achieving many medals and certificates across English Verse Speaking and Art. We also received the wonderful news that the school received the trophy for best School Overall in Art. A word of thanks to all the teachers and staff who supported the children, especially Mrs. O Hanlon. Thank you also to all the parents who took the time to take their children to the Feis and represent the school in a local competition.

 

St. MARY’s P.S. OPEN DAYS FOR RECEPTION & PRIMARY 1’s 2018

Open Days for children who are due to commence Primary School in September 2018 will take place on Thursday 30th November and Friday the 1st of December, call the school to make an appointment or to arrange an alternative time to visit.

 

PARENT TEACHER MEETINGS

We would like to thank parents for their co-operation in accommodating changes to the PT meetings this year which proved to be very successful.

 

 

FLU VACCINE

The school Nurse will be in school on Monday the 27th of November to administer the seasonal flu vaccine. The vaccine will only be given to pupils whose parents have given written permission which accompanies this newsletter. Permission slip to be retuned no later than Thursday Oct 6th.

 

DIGITAL PARENTING

Your child should have a copy of Digital Parenting in their school bag. This is a very informative magazine which helps you as a parent, keep up to date with the rapidly changing Technological and Social Media World. Recommended by EA Western Region.

 

Any money being paid into the school must be placed in an envelope and clearly marked. All Money should be sent into school at the beginning of each week please.
