School Closures - The school will be closed on Monday 6th and Monday 27th for the Bank Holidays and Tuesday the 28th of May for Staff Development.
Young Enterprise - Congratulations to all the children of P.6 & 7 who participated brilliantly in their Young Enterprise venture this year. Along with Maguiresbridge P.S they learned about lots of aspects of creating, marketing and selling a product with the key aim of making a profit. Thanks also to Mrs O Hanlon who greatly helped the children in the design of their products and accompanied the children to Asda to supervise their stall. “The children were enthusiastic but polite with their customers! They were a credit to themselves and to St. Mary’s PS Maguiresbridge.” Sandra Magee Young Enterprise NI. The profit for their company MASPS was £500. This money will be used to help fund the P.5-7 end of year school trip to Tayto Park.
March Readathon - The children raised £1400 for the school Readathon in March which is a fantastic amount. £600 has been used on Usborne Books through their local Rep – Ciara Fitzpatrick. We used the money to improve our selection of Accelerated Reading Books and Reading Group Novels for Key Stage 2. The remaining £800 will be used by the Foundation Stage Teachers to purchase books for P.1 & 2 classes to support the greater numbers in these classes. Thank you to Ciara for the great idea and opportunity to raise funds for reading books in the school.
Clothes Recycling - Thank you to all the parents and wider community who contributed to the Clothes Recycling during February. We raised £194 for school funds. Thank you.
Easter Raffle Congratulations to the children who raised £370 for their chosen charity this year Water Aid. This makes the total raised for Water Aid - £920 which is brilliant. We will have a speaker from Water Aid in school on Friday the 31st of May explaining to the children what the money they have raised will be used for.
Confirmation - Service of Light Thursday the 2nd of May in Holy Cross Church at 7.30pm. Children can wear normal clothes on the night. Confirmation will take place on Saturday 11th May 2019 at 11am. We wish God’s blessings on Ava, Ciara, Rory, Finn, Luke, Colleen, Eoin, Aoibhe-Rose, Aoife, Molly, Daragh, Aimee, Ferdia and Michael who will be receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Confirmation Rehearsal Thursday the 9th of May in Holy Cross at 1.15pm.
School Tests - We would like to remind parents that classes P.2 – 7 will be doing end of year tests over a number of weeks in May, beginning the 6th May. In order for the children to do their best it is important that they are well rested and have had a good night’s sleep. This is particularly difficult with the longer evenings but it’s in the children’s best interests.
School Photographer - will be visiting the school on Friday the 24th of May from 8.30am. Please let the school office know if you want a family photograph so that we can arrange appropriate timings. We also intend to have a whole school photograph, weather permitting.
Move Up Day - This will take place on Thursday the 20th of June. From 9.30am to 12pm each pupil will go to the class which they will be a member of in September 2019. Our new P.1 class will also be present in school on this day. We have been given this date by Post Primary schools that on this day P.7 pupils will also visit their new post primary school.
Shared Education Classes -Shared Education Classes continue with Maguiresbridge P.S. The P.1 class have numeracy and a trip to Florencecourt to look forward to. P.2 children will be learning about People Help Us and a trip to Florencecourt. P.3 & 4’s will be participating in the Young Enterprise Programme, P.5’s Biodiversity Shared Lessons and a trip to the Marble Arch Caves. The P.6 & 7’s will be enjoying soccer lessons and using the award winning Izak 9 problem solving resource.
End of Year School Trips - The Primary 5 to 7 children will travel to Tayto Park on Tuesday 25th June for their end of year school trip. The cost of this trip is £10 per child.
P1 – 4 will go to J’s Playhouse Fintona on Monday 17th June. Cost £5 per child. Money raised from our Clothes Collection will part fund this trip.
After School Clubs
Cycling Proficiency for 7’s will run from 2pm to 4pm for two days a week (Thursdays and Fridays) for three weeks beginning on Thursday 30th of May and finishing on Friday 14th of June. There will be 6 sessions in total, weather permitting. Ch’n can leave their bikes in school during the 3 weeks.
Homework Club will run for the P.6’s during the 3 weeks of Cycling Proficiency on the Wednesday 29th May, 5th and 12th of June 3pm – 4.30pm.
Spanish Classes continue on Wednesday 1st and 15th of May.
GAA Cumann na mBunscol
Mini Sevens: P 6 & 7 boys will take part in a Gaelic football tournament on Wednesday 1st May in Derrygonnelly Harps GAA ground.
P 5 - 7 girls will take part in a Gaelic football tournament on Wednesday 8th May in Derrygonnelly Harps GAA ground.
Boys’ Soccer tournaments
Small school Soccer Blitz for the boys will take place on Thursday 9th May in the Bawnacre Irvinestown. The Greg Turley 5 - aside Football Competition will take place on Friday 17th May in Enniskillen Integrated College playing pitches.
School Meals cost £2.60 per day, £13.00 per week to be paid at the beginning of the week please. Child/Children’s name should be clearly written on envelope.
Milk for the 3rd Term is £8.60. Money in an envelope clearly marked with child’s name please.
Snack P.1 and P.2 for the last term is £13.50
