Roots of Empathy Programme
This year our Primary 6 class had the opportunity to take part in the Roots of Empathy programme delivered by Mrs O’Hanlon and supported by Ms Maguire and Rose.
Roots of Empathy is an award winning programme which involves a parent and baby partnering with a primary school class to teach the children about the baby’s needs and development. It helps children to understand other people’s feelings and be more caring and considerate to others. The Roots of Empathy programme is aimed at reducing levels of bullying and aggression in the classroom.
We were blessed with Stephanie and baby Zara visiting our class every month throughout the year. The children couldn’t wait to each visit to chart Zara’s progress and interact with her. We ended our programme this week with a baby celebration event! We would like to say a big thank you to Stephanie and Zara for taking the time to participate in this programme.
