The school will close on Friday December 20th December at 12:00pm for the Christmas Holidays and will re-open on Tuesday January 7th 2020.
We are very pleased with the interest and participation in our daily Breakfast Club. Considering this sustained interest, the Breakfast Club will continue for the rest of Term 1 and Term 2. We will review again at the beginning of April 2020, just before Easter break.
Primary 4 Class- First Penance - St. Mary’s Church Maguiresbridge on Wednesday 25th March 2020 at 7.30pm. First Holy Communion - St. Mary’s Church, Maguiresbridge on Saturday 6th June 2020 at 11:00am.
Primary 7 Class – Confirmation - Holy Cross Church, Lisnaskea on Friday 13th March 2020 at 6pm, Confirmation Enrolment Holy Cross 9th Feb. 11.30am, Service of Light Wednesday 12th Feb. 7.30pm Holy Cross. For the confirmation ceremony all children will wear full uniform with a special collar to be worn over the top of the uniform. The collar will be provided free of charge by the parish and returned at the end of the ceremony.
SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PRODUCTION
Our school Christmas Nativity will take place on Thursday 12th December at 7.30pm in St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Tickets are £10 per family and £5 each for extended family e.g. Uncles/Aunts/Grandparents. Tickets will be on sale from 11th November from the school office and not on the night.
We thank you in advance for your support and look forward to a very enjoyable evening together.
In recognition of the increased enrolment in St. Mary’s we will encouraging people to go to the matinee that same day at 11am in St. Mary’s Hall. The matinee would be ideal from older and very young members of our community, family who are unable to make the evening performance or family who do not like big crowds.
P.3-7 children will be travelling to the Opera House in Belfast to see ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in Pantomime on Wednesday 4th December. The cost of the trip is £15 per pupil. All money should be in school by now. If your child is not attending the Panto please do send them into school as Mrs. O’Hanlon will be present to supervise.
Details of the P1 & 2 trip to the cinema during the week beginning the 16th of December will be in the December Newsletter.
The school council met in October and decided the charity we would be raising money for this year is the NSPCC – their presentation to children in June was a key factor in their decision making.
Our first Charity event will be a Christmas Raffle during December. Tickets will be available in school from 2nd December and cost 40p each or £1:50 per strip of 5.
Monday 11th to Friday 15th of November is Anti-Bullying Week. The pupils and staff will be taking part in lots of activities, discussion and important surveys to mark this key week in the School’s calendar. The theme of this year’s Anti-Bullying Week is “Change Starts With Us.”
CUMANN NA mBUNSCOL
The annual Cumann na mBunscol Boys and Girls 5 A-Side indoor Gaelic Competition will take place in the Castle Park Centre on Friday the 29th of November. P.7 boys and P.7 & 6 Girls will be participating.
Keith’s planned blitz for P.5-7 this Thursday has had to be cancelled due to a school withdrawing recently. Instead Keith will have a hurling and football session on the school pitch. Children must ensure they bring in a change of clothes. Wear in uniform as normal.
Emmett Conlon is organising an indoor Hurling Blitz for the P.3 & 4 children this Monday the 11th of Nov in Cavanacarragh hall. Details will follow on the children’s permission slip.
FIVEMILETOWN NETBALL AND SOCCER TOURNAMENT
Congratulations to both our Girls’ and Boys’ Teams who competed in the recent competition. The competition is run on a league basis and both teams are unbeaten. We look forward to the final day of competition in Spring of the New Year where both teams are in a good position to do very well.
Well done to all the children who took part in the recent Lisnaskea Feis. The children did brilliantly achieving many medals and certificates across English Verse Speaking and Art. We also received the wonderful news that the school received the trophy for best School Overall in Verse. A word of thanks to all the teachers and staff who supported the children, especially Mrs. King. Thank you also to all the parents who took the time to take their children to the Feis and represent the school in a local competition.
St. Mary’s P.S. OPEN DAYS FOR RECEPTION & PRIMARY 1’s 2020
Open Days for children who are due to commence Primary School in September 2020 will take place on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday the 18th of December, call the school to make an appointment or to arrange an alternative time to visit.
Any money being paid into the school must be placed in an envelope and clearly marked. All Money should be sent into school at the beginning of each week please.
